If you’ve joined a class with me, you’ve probably heard me talk about my garden and my favorite gardener - my wonderfully green thumbed husband Christopher. Well, this is your chance to come stroll through the garden and meet the man behind the mayhem. :)
We are participating in the Northwest Perennial Alliances’ Annual Open Garden Tour program for the first time this year. NPA is an excellent organization to join for any gardener!
We’re excited to share our little oasis in NE Seattle. Christopher will have lots of home grown plants for sale - including some fun weaveables. And I’ll have my sharpening station set up and happy to talk weaving! We’re working on our plant power couple status.

Our home has a petite front garden and surprisingly expansive back garden on two levels; nearly all of the quarter acre is hidden from the street. The garden is the result of a decade long effort to replace a lawn with four seasons of interest; all design and labor is by Christopher and Erin. We have a variety of microclimates due to several mature trees and a gentle slope. We have done our best to maximize variety of form, color and texture with an emphasis on foliage. There are young trees getting established throughout, a robust middle tier of shrubs, lots of herbaceous perennials, and a raised bed veggie area. We try to be water-wise and offer good variety for pollinators, birds, and whatever wildlife chooses to visit. New in 2025 is a pond and surrounding rockery area.
Access Challenges: Flight of ten concrete stairs (with handrail) to reach the garden level. Once in the garden, there are some natural and uneven stone paths, but it is mostly walkable via mulched pathways.
Special driving or parking instructions: We are at the end of a cul-de-sac with decent street parking.
So if you want to spend a little time in the garden, get some inspiration, or sharpen up those secateurs, stop by between 10am and 4pm on Sunday, Aug 17th.
