Weaving with “Weeds”

  • Field and Forest Crafts Classroom 12535 15th Ave NE, Ste 120 Seattle, WA, 98125 United States (map)

One woman’s weeds are another woman’s basket!

  • Bindweed - check

  • Yellow flag iris - check

  • Non-native cattails - check

Some plants are overachievers and find themselves on our list of “weeds” or “invasives”. They sprout from cracks, they send seeds far and wide, they bully other plants, and some aren’t even from here. But…they’re here so let’s make the most of them and weave a basket!

Together we will weave a twined and plaited basket around a 6 x 6 square form and finish with a folded border. The perfect size for little treasures around the house.

Special Note: this basket includes yellow flag iris which is considered poisonous if consumed by animals.

Class age minimum is 14.

Class maximum: 8 students (class minimum 5)

Class is scheduled until 5pm to allow for a short lunch break onsite. Please bring a sack lunch/snack. There is a fridge and microwave available.

Class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, if you want to sell or give your spot to a friend, I’m happy to welcome someone else in your place. Due to the nature of the projects (materials/soaking, etc) and the small class sizes, I’m unable to support refunds or credits.
