Willow Bark Earrings @ Bellevue Botanical Garden

  • Bellevue Botanical Garden 12001 Main Street Bellevue, WA, 98005 United States (map)

Come play with willow bark! Make a pair a bespoke pair of earrings from nature.

When I wear my willow bark jewelry, they remind me that I can be like the willow - flexible, grounded, full of vigor, and resilience. I can withstand the storm or flood and bounce back - my roots are strong and I can resist!

Willow is an incredible plant offering medicine in its bark (used by humans for more than 3500 years!), habitat for birds in its swaying branches, stability for river and stream banks with its dense roots and so much more.

Willow bark can only be harvested for a few months in the spring and early summer but if dried and storied properly can last for years. For weaving, willow bark can be used to make baskets, hats, jewelry, art, and more.

I will offer antique brass finish or surgical steel ear hooks and a stash of natural beads so you can create your own style. If you would like to bring your own beads or specific findings (clip-on, etc), please feel free to do so.
