Foraging for Basketry and Wild Crafts @ Bellevue Botanical Garden

  • Bellevue Botanical Garden 12001 Main St Bellevue, WA, 98005 United States (map)

Let’s have a conversation about some of the incredible plants that grow here in the Pacific Northwest and explore ways to identify, gather, store and use them to create baskets and crafts that bring nature inside. Whether you live in an urban, suburban or rural setting there are forage-able weaving materials to be found. You might have to explore with new eyes and set reminders in your calendar...but there are goodies to be had year round.

Daylily, daffodil, dandelion, crocosmia, iris, cattails, juncus, bulrush, ivy, honeysuckle, wisteria, dogwood, willow and more!

I will share about my approach to sustainable and responsible foraging. We all need to care for the plants we harvest, preserve the environments they grow in, respect the owners and keepers of the land, and be safe…for ourselves and nature.

This workshop is excellent for beginners and those who love nature & crafts - leveraging show & tell, discussion, and a PowerPoint presentation. There are 100’s of plants, weaving skills, and crafts to explore but you will walk away with some fun easy ways to get started.

Registration is being managed by Bellevue Botanical Gardens - $17.50 for Members | $25 for non-Memebers.
