Knotless Netting Skills Workshop

  • NEW Field and Forest Crafts 1608 Northeast 179th Street Shoreline, WA, 98155 United States (map)

Paleontologists have found plant-based cordage and netting dating as far back as the Paleolithic era (aka the Stone Age).

Come learn the basics of making cordage and turning it into a flexible, expandable, knotless netting bag or wrapped vessel. We’ll work primarily with natural hemp twine for our cordage due to availability, strength, and ease for making cordage. We will do a quick sample of planted-based cordage and discuss other forage-able options.

This is a SKILLS WORKSHOP. We will be focusing on exploring a new skill versus creating a finished project. A small knotless bag will take several additional hours to finish. However, each student will be provided a spool of hemp twine (100 meters) for use in class and to take home to continue their bag(s).

You are welcome to bring a water bottle, jar, vase, vessel, or rock to wrap - the technique can be used with or without a form.

Class size max: 8 students (5 student minimum)

Age minimum: 14 accompanied by paid adult.

Class registration is NON-REFUNDABLE. However, if you want to sell or give your spot to a friend, I’m happy to welcome someone else in your place. Due to the nature of the projects (materials/soaking, etc) and the small class sizes, I’m unable to support refunds or credits.
