In this short workshop, you will weave a beautiful willow to decorate your wall or fence. We will twine the center of the flower. This center and technique is the same used to start a traditional stake and strand round basket. (Bonus beginner skill!) Then we will add petals out of willow to complete a sweet piece of art. This project will range between 18” to 24” diameter.

Tools: Please bring sharp pruning shears. Other tools (bodkin) are provided.

Shannon has been making willow baskets since 2010 and teaching on and off since 2013. She’s learned from a variety of teacher to learn the craft. She harvests all the material she weaves with locally. Shannon loves willow for its beauty and functionality. It lends itself to being very sturdy. She is earnest to continue studying weaving of many types - there is so much to learn. Honoring this ancient craft by making baskets and teaching others gives her great fulfillment. She has a vision for more people to make baskets as well as grow and forage for their own materials.

WEAVING IN THE GREENHOUSE - The Sky Nursery Greenhouse is typically 10-15 degrees warmer than the outside temperature. Plan accordingly - wear layers, perhaps a cushion to sit on, or buy a toasty beverage at the Cafe.
